Replacement options at a glance
Which option fits depends on your exam, X-rays and goals. Dr. Ajlouni will walk you through it.

| Option | What it is | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| Single-tooth implant | A titanium artificial root placed in the jawbone, topped with a custom crown. Suited to one or a few adjacent teeth. | Candidates typically have good overall health, gums free of periodontal disease and enough jawbone. Bone grafting can help in some cases of bone loss. |
| Dental bridge | A permanent appliance that replaces a missing tooth or teeth, anchored to neighboring teeth or to dental implants. | An alternative to partial dentures. Types include traditional fixed, resin-bonded, implant-supported and cantilever bridges. |
| All-on-X | A full row of teeth supported by a few implants: either a permanent fixed denture or a snap-in denture. | Uses at least four, and as many as eight, implants per arch. |
| Partial denture | A removable denture that helps support surrounding teeth when a tooth is missing. | Helps prevent the tooth loss, rotation and shifting that can happen if a gap is left open. |
| Complete denture | A top, bottom or full set of replacement teeth. | The process takes at least four appointments, followed by an adjustment period while your gums acclimate. |
Descriptions are general. Your treatment plan depends on your exam and X-rays.
What to expect, step by step
Step 1
Assessment and planning
An oral exam, diagnostic X-rays and a treatment plan discussion, so you know every step before anything begins.
Step 2
Implant placement
The area is numbed with local anesthesia and the implant is placed. Over the following months, the implant fuses with the bone and the gum heals.
Step 3
Attaching your new tooth
An abutment is placed, impressions are taken and your custom-made crown is attached. This may take several visits to perfect the fit.

Tooth replacement questions
Am I a candidate for an implant?
Candidates typically have good overall health, gums free of periodontal disease and a jawbone strong enough to hold the implant. If you have bone loss, techniques such as bone grafting may help. Dr. Ajlouni will assess your needs at your consultation.
Will it hurt?
The area is numbed with local anesthesia during implant placement.
How long does the process take?
Healing takes place over the months after placement, and attaching the crown can take several visits. Dr. Ajlouni will outline your timeline in your treatment plan.
What will it cost?
Cost depends on your treatment plan. Call us at (408) 848-5040 and we will review it with you. We accept CareCredit and offer in-office payment plans for major procedures.
Can I use the $149 new patient special?
The $149 special (exam, full X-rays and cleaning) is for self-pay new patients and is not valid with insurance.
Do you accept my dental insurance?
We accept most PPO insurances. We do not currently accept HMO, DHMO, Medicaid, or Medicare plans. Regardless of coverage, the patient is responsible for the cost of service, so it helps to know your benefits before your visit.
Do you have Saturday appointments?
Dr. Ajlouni works one Saturday a month, mid-month, by appointment only. The next one is Saturday, November 14, 2026. Call us at (408) 848-5040 or book online.
